After devising a script, the next process will be to draw storyboards in which enables you to plan camera shots and the first outlook of the final production. The more detailed storyboards are, the ore effective they will be when filming the production, as the director and cinematographer will be able to look back and use storyboards as a reference point, meaning they can see which shots have been completed. The storyboards should later coincide with a shot list.
The majority of the first scene will include just a voice over, (written in script). Starting blank, it will fade to the exterior of the house from a high angle crane shot. Next another crane shot will be used for the interior of the house, showing a high angle shot of the actor at his desk which will slowly lower into a medium close up. An over the shoulder shot will follow, zooming into the novel in which he is writing. A wide angle shot of the actor standing outside his house will follow.
In order to create a transition to Olly Harrow's memories, the camera will zoom into the protagonist's head and then zoom out of a younger version of himself, marking the start of the flashback scene. A montage of images and clips of the two boys when they were young. A wide angle shot of the two arguing will follow, then the camera will pan as they walk nearer to the road. A POV shot of the car will show it approaching the two in the road, as you hear the engine and the horn of the car, the shot is followed by a cut to black and the sound of a crash.
An over the should shot will begin this scene, followed by a close up of the protagonist which will zoom out to give a greater perspective and view of his office. The voice over will be running throughout this scene once again. A cut to a medium close up of a picture of the two boys will then zoom into the image creating a transition to 'Spotlight TV', showing a wide angle shot of a TV interview with Oliver Harrow.
The wide angle shot will cut to a close up of the protagonist. Next there will be two over the shoulder shots of each character.
The next scene will show the success of the author. This will include a large montage of different newspapers and magazines with his face on, promoting his books and offering awards. After the montage the scene will cut to a low angle shot of an awards ceremony, where a presenter announces Olly has won a Man Booker Award. This shot will continue as he collects his award and begins an acceptance speech.
The final scene will show Oliver Harrow at a book signing for his most recent novel. A wide angled shot will show the author and fans surrounding him at a desk as he begins the sign the books. Short cuts will show the crows reactions and enjoyment whilst meeting Oliver Harrow. As the book signing continues, the crowd will part, shown from a high angled wide shot. The shot will show Andy taking Olly away as he dies of old age.
